I've started a new adventure with my two kids and they love playing d100 dungeon cooperatively following the rules in the Adventurers Companion. My question is about how to deal with ganging up on monsters. If I attack another party members monster, will that monster get to retaliate on me, or will my own monster attack me as usual? I expect that it is my own monster who gets the attack. But if that is the case, what happens when I've defeated my own monster? Does the monster that I attack then get to attack back instead? Thanks.

Monsters with the "Dark Magic" ability roll for a magic spell at the start of each combat round. For most rolls, the effects modify the monsters upcoming attack. But the "Death Bolt" deals a flat 2 HP damage to the adventurer. 1) Is this damage dealt in addition to the monsters attack this turn? 2) Is the damage applied immediately, i.e. even before the reaction roll, since the roll is to be made _before_ each combat round. Or is it resolved during the monsters attack? Thanks Michael
