After several tough space battles that I barely escaped from (including one with an Explorer 5!), I finally managed to destroy a Stealth Fighter MKII. It felt like a significant victory at this point in my game.
As I play with the changed rules for experience (i.e. none gained from space tests involving the (limited) CM, as that would quickly trivialize gaining experience), I still think defeated starships should at least go on the Combat Track for the incremental XP.
After all, Freight Rats are less of a challenge than a Corvette and still grant pips to stats and skills, karma points, etc
In my opinion, this makes sense, helps space combat now contribute to character development, and could be an optional rule in a future update. Martin, please let us know your thoughts.
Thank you.
I agree wholeheartedly, and it seems like it (spaceship combat log with periodic XP & other gains) would be a pretty simple feature to include both from the developer and the player side of things. I like this a lot!
This sounds like a great house rule, and I agree space combat perhaps should award experience in some way. This might lead to something bigger, like a Space Battle Combat Track.
