Greetings, wonderful game. The following questions assume only Book 1 rules:
1.Can a player return to town mid-quest to heal/restock, maybe by way of the dungeon entrance?
{I believe Book 1 implies no.]
2. Can a player own 10 shares + 4 pips of a single investment?
[I believe book 1 implies no.]
2b. In either case (MAX == 10 shares OR MAX == 10 shares + pips), what happens if the investment roll gives a player a return which puts them over the limit?
3. Can a player buy 20 + REP total NEEDED table items in town, or 20 + REP of each kind of NEEDED item in town?
[I believe Book 1 indicates 20 + REP total.]
4. Do potion/brew effects which do not specify that they take effect in the following round, or that they last until some other condition, occur immediately in combat; i.e., before monster damage to the player? i.e.#2: If a monster damages me to -3 HP in a round, but I have drunk a Lesser Healing Pot as my action in the same round, do I survive the round with 1 HP?
[I believe Book 1 implies yes.]
5. Why might a player choose to allow a monster to escape without attempting a final blow for the possible STR or DEX pip increase?
6. Does it ultimately require +2 TIME TRACK to open the tomb for the 41-45 FIND table row (i.e., +1 cost of the Time column added together with the +1 cost (optional to open) listed in the Details column)?
[I believe Book 1 indicates +2 total]
6b. If it does cost +2 total, does any effect, such as wandering monster encounters, resulting from the +1 TIME TRACK required for optionally opening the tomb, resolve before rolling on the table?
[ I understand from a previous forum answer that any standard time cost inducing effect of FIND actions must resolve before FIND Details are applied, but this 41-45 row instance seems to me unusual enough to warrant this question.]
Thanks for the fantastic game.
Dan
Hi Dan, here are the answers to your questions:
1=No.
2=They can have 10 shares and 4 pips, but not 10 shares and 5 pips (effectively 11 shares).
3=20+rep is total number of items from table N, and not 20+rep of each item from table N.
4= Be careful with the wording of effects. The potion of lesser healing restores lost HP. The effect is immediate and will not carry over until the adventurer loses HP. Effects that say things like +3 Int to your next d100 dice roll, will give +3 to int even if your next d100 roll is testing str.
5= The adventurer may be pleased to see the monster escape if they are being beaten in combat, and are low on HP.
6=Yes, the first hour is finding the tomb, the 2nd hour is getting it open. If a time effect is triggered, deal with it as it is triggered. So if the first hour to find the tomb triggers a wandering monster and you encounter it, you must fight the wandering monster before you get to open the tomb.
Good luck in the dungeons!
